My mission as a Mexican artist is to honor and celebrate my culture, to bring joy, and to build community using non-traditional ways of storytelling.

ABOUT
Diana Patricia Guizado (she/her) is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Theatre & Dance. An actor, writer and producer, she seeks to create work that is inclusive, and that explores untold and relevant stories with women from underrepresented backgrounds at their core. She was a fellow for: the UT Urban Research Program in Los Angeles led by Dr. Omi Osun L. Jones. and Professor Sharon Bridgforth, and the New South Young Playwrights Festival in Atlanta. Her plays have been presented at Horizon Theatre Company in Atlanta and Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. In 2020 she completed an intensive study of the entertainment industry with a focus on Writing for TV & Film at the Wofford Denius UT Los Angeles Center for Entertainment & Media Studies. In 2021 she co-produced the short film "El Gato Feo" written and directed by Daniel Fabelo based on las soldaderas - the women who fought during the Mexican revolution. She's currently pursuing a certificate in Writing for TV Series at CasAzul in Mexico City.

CONTRA TIEMPO: FUTURO
During the Summer Dance Intensive, created by the Los Angeles-based dance company CONTRA TIEMPO, participants become grounded in Urban Latin Dance Theater technique. It epitomizes art as social action, incorporating leadership development, community-building strategies, and social theater techniques such as Augusto Boal’s Theater of the Oppressed.

A PLACE CALLED THE MIDDLE
